Friday 5th August – bike **** – Around Felixstowe including lunch at
Levington Bay – sunny and warm.
With wall to wall sunshine with a good NW offshore breeze I was very
tempted to go windsurfing at The Dip but in the end I decided to head out
with Mag for a picnic lunch on our bikes:) Took the Trimley route, over the
big footbridge and down to Levington Bay beach for our picnic. Got a
message from windsurfing mate who moved to Wales saying he was in Suffolk
walking from Nacton Shores to Felixstowe, we just missed him at Levington
but Mag bumped into him at Felixstowe for a chat:) The tide was low on the
River Orwell with a good breeze blowing over the water with several yachts
enjoying the conditions. There were a few waders about, a big flock and
geese, cormorant’s, egrets and some swans to entertain us. So, for the
second day in a row, we enjoy our chicken sandwiches by on the banks of the
Orwell, then return up the hill past Loompit Lake taking the tree lined
route back with most of the wheat field now harvested! At the docks Mag
heads for home while I do my usual trip to the view point and home along
the busy prom! With a big high over us now for days and no wind forecast as
the temperatures head over 30 degrees again next week!
